Drag Ball – Tuntenball

This Ball used to take place in Basel every year at Christmas for LGBT and friends.
It was always a noncommercial ball, a celebration of cross gender dressing.

It began in 1990. After 25 years it enjoyed such great popularity that it grew too big for the place, so the organiser decided that this was the last one.
This documentary is a from 2009 to 2014. It was the time when the ball changed into a very big happening in town.

I was always fascinated by the atmosphere. There is so much glamour and humour, sincerity and playfulness, exhibitionism and voyeurism. My work concentrates on the small gap between perfection and imperfection.
